Webcomic Issues This Week

The Outsider - Netflix Review

Taking a break from webcomics and moving to another subscription service we love, The Outsider dropped this weekend starring Jared Leto.

An American soldier imprisoned in postwar Japan enters the dark world of the yakuza, adopting their way of life in repayment for his freedom.

While the concept is not original, this one was pretty well executed. Definitely worth checking out if you are into Yakuza mafia-type moves. The setup is quite strong and while the ending was satisfying in terms of a final encounter, the final act of the story seemed rushed after a slow burn buildup. Leto was definitely better here than the Joker. We give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Wind River - Movie Review

Here's a gem that just started streaming on Netflix (in Canada at least). We bring this one up because it pairs our favorite Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch actors Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen in a crime-thriller.

An FBI agent teams with the town's veteran game tracker to investigate a murder that occurred on a Native American reservation.

Wind River is a high recommendation big time. Renner and Olsen show much more range and chemistry here and the overall the story closes with a bang. The Punisher Jon Bernthal has a one-scene role that is pretty much like watching a prequel for his turn as Frank Castle. Enjoyable nonetheless. Let's rate this 4.5 out of 5.

Enjoy the webcomics and make sure you check out The Outsider and Wind River. Have an awesome week!
